Cool charity ice show puts Sheffield on fashion map

Sheffield is set to stage a UK first when a unique charity fashion event showcasing some of the coolest seasonal collections takes place in the city.

The groundbreaking Fashion On Ice show at iceSheffield will feature 40 catwalk models and local skaters who will be dressed to impress in the latest autumn and winter collections from John Lewis.

They will get their skates on to model more than 140 high fashion costumes on the rink in a dazzling display of ice skating, music and entertainment.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to Help a Hallam Child - the official charity of Hallam FM and Magic AM, which supports vulnerable children who live within South Yorkshire and the North Midlands .

The show will be choreographed by iceSheffield’s skating coach Kelly Buddery and hosted by Michelle Dignan from Hallam FM’s Big John @ Breakfast show.

Mandy Janes, general manager at iceSheffield, said: “This is a truly unique event and it will be the first time a fashion show of this kind has been held in the UK . We are delighted to be involved in such a unique project and hope we can help to raise vital funds for such a worthwhile local charity.”

Dave Kilner, Help a Hallam Child fundraising manager, said: “Fashion On Ice will be an event unlike anything that has been seen in this country before. It will be bring together first class fashion, ice skating and music for a spectacular show for people of all ages to enjoy.

“We are hugely grateful to all our local partners who are supporting the event so generously. A full house at iceSheffield will raise more than £5,000 for Help a Hallam Child so we hope the event will draw in a huge crowd on the night.”

Sheffield-based audio visual and live events company tdc has been selected to support the event and will create a dazzling display of lighting to complement the choregraphy. Headlines Hair and Beauty and Tony and Guy will be completing the hair and make up for the event.

Fashion On Ice takes place on Tuesday 2 October and tickets priced at £5 are available from the Hallam FM reception, iceSheffield and Sheffield ’s John Lewis stores.
