Skate stars on show at cool Christmas celebration
Top class and international level skaters from across South Yorkshire showcased their skills in the region’s coolest Christmas celebration at iceSheffield.
More than 100 junior and senior skaters from the state-of-the-art venue performed a range of group and solo displays and spectacular jumps and spins at the venue’s Christmas Show – Wishing on a Star.
Karla Quinn, who recently won the Sportswoman of the Year Award at the 13th annual Ballymoney Sports Awards, took part in the show, held on December 6 and 7 at the Sheffield International Venues (SIV) facility.
She was joined in Wishing on a Star by an array of other leading skaters who are based at iceSheffield including British Solo Ice Dance Champion Olivia Smart, Mark Hanretty and Chrissie Chitwood, Kira Geil and Andrew Smykowski and Katie Powell.
iceSheffield’s David Hartley, who choreographed and performed in the show, said: “This year’s Christmas Show was a real festive bonanza. It featured some of the country’s finest skaters who performed a spectacular collection of group and solo ice dances with a modern Christmas theme representing six festive wishes.”
