Businesses across the region are being offered a unique chance to ‘polish’ their team building skills.
iceSheffield has brought curling sessions for businesses and organisations of all sizes as an innovative way of improving staff morale and productivity.
Guests are treated to a drinks reception in the venue’s premier function room, before being given a brief lesson to hone their skills and competing in a round robin group stage culminating in a grand final.
Simon Butterworth, community group co-ordinator at the Sheffield International Venues (SIV) managed facility, said: “During the difficult times that the recession has brought, companies and organisations are looking more and more to unique ways of delivering team building exercises.
“Curling is definitely a great example of this and what’s more it is excellent value for money which is an important consideration for businesses, particularly during the recession.
“It is a fantastic way for people to learn a new skill whist working as part of a team, perhaps even with colleagues you don’t normally work with on a day to day basis. The game definitely brings out the competitive side in people and forces players to work as a unit in order to beat their opponents.”
The competition is followed by a trophy presentation and photographs on iceSheffield’s medal rostrum.
Organisations to already benefit from the exercise are Sheffield Children’s Hospital staff, Sheffield University and DLA Piper.
Simon added: “The sessions are already proving to be popular with organisations throughout the region, and we have received excellent feedback from those who have been involved. We look forward to developing the sessions as they become increasingly popular.”
The curling team building package costs £20 per person. For more information, visit www.icesheffield.com or call 0114 223 3904. Alternatively, email s.butterworth@sivltd.com.
